As recorded in NAC Histories, the Chief Apostle Bischoff CA Bischoff fell ill April 18; his condition would not improve, despite lengthy medical treatment by a NAC physician. He stood by his message to the last hour of his life on July 6, 1960.
On July 7, a meeting of the Apostles is called and ChAp Schmidt selected, per the letter to all members dated July 7, 1960 "He was unanimously chosen for this ministry in the Apostle gathering of 7th July 1960 in Frankfurt am Main."
TIME OUT WAIT A MINUTE:
How was that meeting arranged so quickly? He died on the 6th and an Apostles meeting called, arranged, and executed in one days time.
How many Apostles were available on one day's notice?
ANY PREPARATION PRIOR TO HIS DEATH WOULD HAVE BEEN HERESY TO THIS DOGMA.
If everyone believed that the Lord would come in Bischoff's lifetime (same letter quoted below), the body was barely cold and a meeting with a sufficient quorum occured.
"We all, with conviction, believed and hoped that the Lord would, according to the promise given to the Chief Apostle, take His Own unto Himself during his lifetime. This was also the unswerving faith of the Chief Apostle, of which he testified until his very last hour on this earth. He, as well as we, and all the Administration Brothers and members faithfully united with him, never doubted in the fact that the Lord would fulfil the promise given to him at the appointed time."
Any of our friends in Europe encountered the same question previously?
Anyone ever see an official 'splaining of how the true believers could have been so ready to have a meeting?
Best I can estimate, approximately 47 active apostles existed, including at least 10 active outside Europe. So depending on the statutes was a quorum roughly 36 apostles, or only 24?
Still 24 people assembled in 24 hours notice (in 1960)... I smell doubt.
